Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School - Sunbury/Diggers Rest

Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School aims to provide a quality, individualised, faith-based education. The name Holy Trinity represents community, unity, diversity and inclusion. These are the values we uphold amongst our school community.

At Holy Trinity our teachers utilise the ‘Gradual Release Model’ to meet children at their point of need. Teachers transition from guided to independent practice and return to explicit explanation or guided practice as needed. They monitor student progress through observations and other formative assessments to determine what students need to demonstrate to indicate they are ready for independent practice.#htsunbury #faithhopeunity #togetherasone #gradualreleasemodel #melbournecatholicschools ... Hello Holy Trinity CommunityMy name is Christine Thompson and I am so excited to be joining Holy Trinity as a Year 4 teacher in 4 Gold!I am from Ontario, Canada, and I hold two bachelor's degrees from Brock University in Niagara Falls. I have a bachelor in Child and Youth Studies and a bachelor in Education with honours at the primary/junior level. I also have a post graduate certificate in Special Education from Queens University in Canada. I have been teaching for nine years across all year levels from kindergarten to year six. I began my teaching career teaching a kindergarten class in Germany and then continued to teach other year levels all around the world. I have been so lucky to have had the opportunities to teach in some amazing places such as China, Namibia, Germany, Sweden, Canada and beautiful Australia.Throughout my career, I have been committed to ongoing professional growth, including a post graduate certificate specialising in special education as well as additional credits in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have also held the position as head of English while I was teaching year four in Sweden. All of these opportunities have strengthened my ability to support diverse learners and create engaging classroom environments that fit everyone's unique needs and interests. My approach to teaching and learning centres on building strong relationships, fostering curiosity, and creating a safe and inclusive space where every student feels valued, cared for and challenged. I believe students learn best when they feel confident, supported, and inspired to think critically and creatively. I strive to make learning meaningful, engaging, and connected to the real world. The best part of being a teacher is witnessing those “lightbulb moments”, when a concept clicks, confidence grows, and students begin to see their own potential. It is a privilege to play a role in shaping not only academic growth but also character and resilience.I was drawn to Holy Trinity because of its strong sense of community, commitment to faith and values, and dedication to nurturing the whole child. The welcoming and supportive culture truly stood out to me, and I am honoured to now be part of this team. I am particularly looking forward to building relationships with students, families, and colleagues, contributing to the vibrant school culture, and supporting students in reaching their personal and academic goals.I am a mom to two children, a four year old and almost one year old! My journey into teaching began from helping my aunt, mother and grandfather in their classrooms when I was young until I followed in their footsteps and became a teacher as well. I remain passionate about lifelong learning, personal growth, and making a positive difference in the lives of young people.I am incredibly excited for the year ahead and look forward to becoming an active member of the Holy Trinity community.#htsunbury #faithhopeunity #togetherasone #newstaffmember ...
