Mathematics is an important part of our education but also everyday lives.

At Holy Trinity students participate in daily mathematics sessions of one hour that focus on building their understanding of Mathematical concepts.

Each mathematics session includes a ten minute ‘Number Blast’ that aims to develop the core number skills of counting, place value, mental computation, etc. These sessions focus on repetition and practice of essential skills and are supported by data and assessment so that activities are differentiated to support students at their specific point of need.

Teachers provide opportunities for students to explore mathematics through problem solving activities and open ended tasks. These experiences provide insights into each student’s understanding, use of strategies and any potential misconceptions which teachers can address and build on through explicit teaching, personalised support and questioning and tasks that consolidate new learning.

Mathematics at Holy Trinity covers content in line with the Victorian Curriculum and the three strands of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability.

Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.
